Responder & Facilitator Trainings • Seattle, WA • March 25-28, 2025

First Aid Arts equips trauma care providers, community workers, and volunteers with arts-based tools and training.

Our Responder Training will provide you with a thorough introduction to trauma and the arts, plus essential skills to use the First Aid Arts Toolkit to care for yourself and others. This training is a pre-requisite for the Facilitator Training.

Our Facilitator Training is an advanced course for First Aid Arts Responders who want to create more Responders through facilitating Responder Groups. Learn more about becoming a First Aid Arts Facilitator here.

As an organization, we believe in the importance of making the expressive arts accessible to individuals regardless of economic status - one way we accomplish this is through the use of a sliding scale.

In addition, we offer a limited number of scholarships for each of our trainings. Please visit our scholarship page to learn more and fill out the application. Applications for these programs are due February 12th, 2025.

Please reach out to Bryan Bedson if you need further assistance. We want to help you through this process as much as we’re able.

If you have resources or access to resources, we invite you to pay the second or third option on the scale, which best reflects our actual costs to provide this training for each participant and sustains our ability to provide this scale.

Registration Q&A

Who would you recommend take this training?

These trainings are open to all who want to learn about how the arts can be implemented as practical aid for mental and emotional health! The skills we teach are versatile and can be applied well in many contexts. Additionally, these trainings most often draw individuals who are currently in contexts or spaces that provide trauma care and mental health services to various populations.

Does completing the training mean I’m certified?

The certificates you will earn after completing our trainings are only certificates of completion, not a certification.

Are there scholarship and work-study options available?

Thanks to our generous donors, we are able to offer scholarships and work-study volunteer spots for each training. To learn more and apply, visit our scholarship and work-study page. Our deadline to apply for both options is February 12th, 2025.

Are there other ways to pay for the training?

We encourage you to engage with your community to raise the funds for the training and to spread awareness about why the arts and creative expression are so vital!

What is the cancellation/refund policy?

If a refund is requested within the registration deadline, we will be able to grant a refund. We regret that refunds are not available once registration closes. You are encouraged to sell or gift your registration to a colleague.

What options are available for lodging?

Participants will be responsible for finding their own lodging during the duration of our training, but we have a helpful resource guide with several lodging suggestions!

What’s the registration deadline?

Please register by 5:00pm PDT on March 18th, 2025, for both or either training. If we reach max capacity, we will close registration early, so don’t wait to secure your spot!

Other questions or concerns?

Please don’t hesitate to email Bryan Bedson.
